LogicaCMG Helps Proximus Tap Into Booming Belgian MMS Market

State of the art MMSC to Support Increased Mobile Usage

LogicaCMG today announces that it has been selected by Proximus, Belgium's leading mobile operator, to provide a Multimedia Messaging Service Centre (MMSC) platform to replace the operator's existing MMS infrastructure. The new MMSC platform, in conjunction with a media adaptation system from MobiXell, enables an improved subscriber experience across the entire range of multimedia messaging in addition to providing Proximus with real time data analysis of MMS traffic.

As Belgian phone users demand more mobile content services and begin to regularly send rich multimedia messages including video and audio files, local operators are faced with the need to respond to this surge in demand for MMS. Proximus' investment reflects a strong interest in MMS services among Belgian consumers, who without subsidised contracts invest a premium in handsets and need to be able to use them to their full capability.

A key element of an Intuitive Messaging strategy, LogicaCMG's MMSC platform offers operators the opportunity to use greater customer intelligence when delivering highly personalised data services and, consequently, will increase service profitability. LogicaCMG has provided Proximus with a complete MMSC environment that offers advanced transcoding, adaptation and optimisation capabilities, in addition to LogicaCMG Business Tools, which will give a more accurate insight into the messaging behaviour of its customers.

Laurent Claus, chief technical officer, Proximus commented: "Upgrading our MMS infrastructure reflects the advancing service adoption by consumers in Belgium, and our own desire to provide innovative solutions for our customers. LogicaCMG's impressive mobile messaging expertise was one of the key factors in our selection, cementing a strong existing relationship."

Chris McDermott, CEO, LogicaCMG telecoms, added: "Operators have to be able to respond to the changing needs of their customers, particularly in the area of high-growth, media-rich services. We are proud and delighted that Proximus has chosen LogicaGMG's solution to meet these demands."

Proximus, the largest mobile operator in Belgium serving some 4.25 million customers, holds a 48.4 per cent share of the national market. Proximus has previously partnered with LogicaCMG for other mobile software solutions, including implementation of its short message service centre (SMSC).
